Predictions cometh true?

Long Range:

Ok, well in my long ranger I talked about how the weather is going to be, well, boring until perhaps January 1st-5th. I now see a BIG storm coming up for around the 3rd-5th (one of those days) and it looks LIKELY to happen. But, will it be rain, sleet, or snow?

This is what is looks like on the GFS: (Click for bigger image)

This is what our new weather pattern is going to look like that should last around six weeks. It will go from very warm, then a storm will move in bringing with it cold air. Now, will the storms be snow for our region or rain? That's the big question! But this being the "start" of the pattern could give us a sign of what the majority of our winter will bring. Ofcourse it's way too far out right now but this will be the focus of my blog in the coming weeks...

Short Range:

It's not looking to good. There will be some cold for night snow making and perhaps a flurry or two here and there but it seems likely nothing will happen till January :(

P.S. December is running +4.3 inches of snow above so far and -.20 degrees below average.

Looking forward to the start of january, but not now, theyjust issued us a winter weather advisory, hopefully this rain doesnt hurt creek to much... but what are we going to do. In your opinion what do you think the january storm will be? Thanks; Chris

Well the rain storm shouldn't hurt Creek much, it may just soften the snow a little. (But it will turn to ice at night when the temps drop)

In my opinion it will be a rain turning to snow on the back half, but will the rain be brief and quickly go to snow? Or will it rain most the time and quick 1-2 inches of snow accumulates at the end? It's really to far out right now to make the call, but keep checking back!

Okay! THANKS ALOT, you are so much help, really like it.

Oh and, how much snow do you think we like at our houses will lose with this current storm?

It really depends. Like I got a lot of sleet where I live so it should hold up for a longer period of time than snow. But, no matter who got what, a big chunk of the wintry precip on the ground is going bye byes... :(

Yeah I got 1/8 inche of ice here. But as for Friday, I doubt much in the way of frozen stuff will fall. Perhaps some clippers will come through during the Christmas break to soften the surface. As of right now the snow in my yard is protected by ice, so until that ice melts the snow isn't going anywhere.

I'll post a little later on, check back!
